You need to select VM-> Install VMWare Tools, if the item is blocked:
In the OS type settings, change the type

Kali Linux, Parrot security os ==>> try  'Debian 7' not 'Other' type
Ubuntu ==> 'Ubuntu' not 'Other' type

Then the drive with Install VMWare Tools is added to the system, unpack, and install
Like --> pearl Install_VMWare_Tools.pl
